Aratu Fuel Switch Project

DOW Chemical Company

The Aratu Biomass Cogeneration Fuel Switch Project was developed by strategic partners Energias Renováveis do Brasil (ERB) and the Dow Chemical Company. Emissions reductions were realized through the switching from a natural gas fuel source to a biomass fuel source sourced from verified sustainable eucalyptus farms. The project was developed under the Dow-Rio 2016 Organizing Committee Carbon Partnership.

Our Involvement

Ostrom Climate supported Dow for the full project cycle, including project design and documentation, validation, activity reporting, and verification.

Outcome​

The projects were validated and verified, and tonnes are issued on the BC Carbon Registry. Over 500,000 tonnes have been verified to date. The project was validated and over 450,000 tonnes of emissions reductions have been verified to date.
