BC-based Harbour Air is the largest all-seaplane company in the world and a champion for action on climate change. Recognizing the impact that aviation has on the climate, Harbour Air was the first airline in North America to achieve carbon neutrality – and the only airline in the world to maintain carbon neutral status for over 14 years. Harbour Air partnered with Ostrom Climate in 2007 to understand their emissions, work to reduce them and offset the balance, making them a global leader in the fight to decrease emissions from aviation.

Their products and technologies include zero-emissions fuel cells for electric buses, heavy-duty vehicles, and marine vessels, which drive sustainable mobility. With operations and partnerships across Canada, USA, China and Denmark, Ballard is working towards delivering fuel cell power for a sustainable planet. Since 2019, Ballard has worked with Ostrom Climate on three LCA projects.

Life Cycle Assessment of Five Businesses

Vancouver City Savings Credit Union (Vancity) is a financial co-operative that is value-driven, and serves the needs of more than 534,000 member-owners and their communities throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. This project was part of a campaign to encourage consumers to shop locally, and was created by Vancity in partnership with LOCO BC. Ostrom Climate quantified the GHG benefits of five distinct products and provided strategies on how they can reduce their emissions from their supply chains.
