February 23, 2017, Vancouver, British Columbia: NatureBank Asset Management Inc. is pleased to announce that Dr. Silke Elwers, Senior Consultant for Agroforestry and Cocoa, will be presenting on the main panel at the 2017 CHOCOA Conference, being held on February 24th, in Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.
The theme for this years’ conference is “Sustainable Cocoa: Integrity and Transparency”, recognizing the cocoa supply chain is in great need of a makeover if the goal is to establish both meaningful environmental and social sustainability, while creating a robust supply of quality cocoa. Recognizing that large investments from both public and private sectors are needed to transform the cocoa supply chain, CHOCOA 2017 looks to engage a cross section of stakeholders to discuss sustainability, transparency, integrity, development opportunities and progress in the cocoa industry.
Dr. Elwers will be speaking on the first panel of the day, focused on the urgency in establishing environmental sustainability in cocoa, and will be joined by representatives from Barry Callebaut, Solidaridad Brazil and the University of Reading in the UK.
The CHOCOA conference was established to help foster necessary change in the world’s cocoa supply chain. Recognizing that only 20% of cocoa supply is sustainable, CHOCOA aims to help boost production and consumption of sustainable cocoa and chocolate by bringing together the stakeholders that drive the industry.
